How many devices do you have that use batteries? If you are like me, you have a mobile phone, a digital camera, an MP3 player, speakers, a wireless mouse, a TV remote, flashlight, and probably a few more battery-powered devices. That’s a lot of batteries and a lot of adaptors to keep track of, let alone lug around. Wouldn’t it be great if you could recharge your batteries from something that is always around and convenient, like say… a USB port.

USB ports are everywhere and their use is projected to increase. Soon they won’t just be on your computer or game console; they’ll be in your car, on the plane, and in other places you might need local connectivity.
Rechargeable batteries aren’t anything new. They’ve been around a long time but the extra chargers you have to carry have always made them more inconvenient than just buying a bulk supply of regular batteries. Moixa Energy has come up with an ingenious solution – the USB Cell battery.
It looks like your average battery but flip back the green positive cap and a USB plug is unveiled. Requiring no cradles or cables, the USB Cell batteries plug into any USB port much like your typical flash memory stick. USB Cell batteries will go from completely dead to fully charged in 5 hours and an LED on the side indicates whether they are charging or not.
Currently, Moxia Energy only has the AA USB Cell but they are also developing USB-chargeable AAA, 9V, and mobile phone/portable device batteries.
This green innovation is sure to cause a stir in the market that has been flooded with largely wasteful proprietary batteries and adaptors over the years. With the USB Cell batteries, you’ll be able to use any USB port to charge batteries for all your devices you’ll be able to stop wasting money on disposable batteries or wasting space on adaptors. Good idea, huh?
