Pet Sounds in Free Ringtones
3 October 2006

If an imitation of a speeding motorcycle can become a hugely popular ringtone, why not something even more annoying? Nestle Purina has realized the promotional value of ringtones and has made ringtones of cats and dogs available for free. Whether barking or meowing is lovely or annoying depends on your relationship to these pets. We decided to join the choir and give away our version of the ringtone pet sounds.
It's easy to buy ringtones by sending a text message to an online store, purchase a software product to create your own ringtones, or extract tracks from your CDs and turn them into ringtones.

Now, when a big corporation decides to give away ringtones, we are all ears. Nestle Purina, a pet food company, is using ringtones as a means to promote their products. You won't hear the sound of a Harley-Davidson or even an imitation of a motorcycle, because Purina wants us to remember our dear cats and dogs. You can download free ringtones for your phone from the Purina web page. Just follow the instructions to get a tune for your phone.
There is a catch, however- Purina dogs and cats make noise only on the phones connected to the US networks. The rest of the world has to find their howling and purring tunes from somewhere else. All hope is not lost. We are here for you.
We provide a lovely ringtone of dogs barking their heads off for free. Health warning: it is for dog lovers only. Other people may develop a serious headache when listening to this ringtone. There's more. We have a ringtone available for individuals who want to impress their bosses. It is the sound of true work -- sawing wood.
How to download free ringtones
There are two methods for downloading ringtones from a web page: the easy way and the not-so-easy way.
A) The easy way to download ringtones is to access the Internet from your phone's web browser.
- If you have a phone with Internet (HTML or XTHML) browser software, launch it.
- Type the address: www.avecmobile.com/index.php?id=98 into the browser's address bar. You can also enter the address of the mobile edition of Avec Mobile mobile.avecmobile.com. When you see the home page, select Downloads and Ringtones from the menu.
- Click the tune you want. Accept the download. The ringtone is saved on your phone. You may have to go to the phone settings and manually change the ringtone before the new tune is activated.
- Some phones automatically download and play the ringtone when you click the link in the web page. In this case, open the music player's menu and select Save as ringtone.
If you are unsure about the type of the browser software you have on the phone, simply try to access the web page. If the browser can't display the page, download the ringtone to your computer and copy it to the phone from there.

B) Download ringtones to your computer.
Not all phones can display web pages. In this case, access the download page on your computer.
This link takes you to the download page.
Right-click a ringtone and select Save Target As or Save Link As to save it on the hard disk.
Depending on your phone's connectivity capabilities, you can copy the tune from the computer via Bluetooth, infrared, data cable, memory card, or email.
For advice on copying information from your PC to the phone via memory card, read this guide.
If you received a data cable with your phone, install the associated software. Hook up your phone to the PC and follow the instructions of the application in order to transfer information between the devices.
You may send ringtones to your phone by email as well. If you haven't used email on your phone yet, follow the instructions in your phone's user guide, or check out this guide for setting up email access for your phone.
