After the Internet made it possible to route telephone calls to ordinary landline numbers and mobile phones, only people with too much money have made international calls using traditional telephone services. No one has to pay several dollars per minute only to call back home anymore. Fortunately, a number of new telephone services are offering free or low-cost rates for overseas phone calls. FooCall is one of them.
FooCall service is offering low-cost international phone calls for mobile phones, PCs and landline telephones. The rates are low, because the service is utilizing the Internet for routing the international portion of the call. Here's how it works. When you want to dial a number, say, in the Philippines, FooCall automatically gives you a local number (wherever you happen to be) to call. From the local number onwards, FooCall routes the call via the Internet until it reaches its destination.
So, you pay for the local call to the FooCall number and a few pence per minute for the interational call routing. It is dramatically cheaper than calling directly from your mobile phone to another country. Other options for free and low-cost international phone calls are, for instance, Skype or Fring that are true Voip (Voice over the Internet) and can provide completely free calls as well. I've tried a few of these services and I like FooCall. The international rates are the lowest I've found and its easy to use. I don't have an iPhone, so I haven't tried their iPhone app but the other calling options are all straightforward.

Downloaded the Foocall app from the Apple App Store and I must say I am pleasantly surprised. It’s easy to use and the user interface is great. The call rates are also very competitive.
