Samsung Omnia Pro, II, and Lite touch screen phones / 23.06.2009 05:47
The Samsung Omnia i900 quickly became a popular product for people who were looking for a solid touch screen smartphone in 2008. So popular, that Samsung added Omnia HD i8910 touch screen phone to the product range. In case you are wondering, HD doesn't mean Harley-Davidson, but capability to record high-definition video. We have also seen extremely active interest in the small and handy touch screen phone Samsung F480. So, it is not a big surprise that Samsung has decided to extend the Omnia product line with three products; Pro, II, and Lite.
The Samsung Omnia Pro has both a physical qwerty keyboard and a large touch screen. The keyboard slides under the display which is 3.5 inches in size. 5 megapixel camera can record high-resolution video. Wi-Fi connectivity, Bluetooth and USB are included. MP3 player, video player, and FM radio provide entertainment to the smartphone that has a number of business features, such as Microsoft ActiveSync and Lotus Notes Traveller with office document editing capability.
The GSM/UMTS smartphone is powered by Windows Mobile 6.5 operating system software and Samsung's TouchWiz touch screen software. Instead of Microsoft web browser, you may access the Internet with the built-in Opera 9.5 browser.
The Samsung Omnia II has been designed for multimedia. Its large 3.7-inch touch screen is based on OLED technology that produces bright images and allows wide viewing angle. The display has been treated in a way that helps it remain as scratch-free as possible. GPS receiver and high-speed wireless Wi-Fi communication capability are built into the device. 5 megapixel digital camera can capture videos in 720x480 pixel resolution. It is, by the way, higher resolution than in most dedicated compact cameras. Fm radio, MP3 music player and movie player entertain phone owners who can listen and view multimedia programs stored in mpeg4, h.263, h.264, WMV9, DivX, XviD, MP3, AAC, AAC+, or WMA formats.
The Samsung Omnia II is a GSM/UMTS phone. The device runs on Windows Mobile 6.5 operating system that is complemented with TouchWiz software.
With its 3-inch display, the Samsung Omnia Lite is a compact touch screen phone. The digital camera has 3 megapixel resolution and it can capture videos. Movies and music can be enjoyed on the Omnia Lite. For instance, MP3, AAC, and WMA music tracks or Vidx, Xvid, WMV9, and H.264 videos are compatible with the phone. GPS receiver allows navigation and geotagging of photos once a suitable piece of software has been downloaded to the phone.
The Samsung Omnia Lite is built on Windows Mobile 6.5 and TouchWiz software. The phone can connect to GSM and 3G UMTS networks. High-speed wireless LAN (Wi-Fi) feature makes it possible to quickly check out web pages using the preinstalled Opera browser software.

I just had an online chat with a rep from Verizon (forgot to copy the text) Sad
I simply asked when she thought the Omnia II was going to be released. She looked into it and just said "soon". We talked a little more and I found that she herself was looking forward to the release of the Omnia II. After a little flattering Wink, she told me to hold on while she checked with someone at a "higher level". When she came back she said that I should definitely check back on Friday.
So, I'm thinking that at the very least(hopefully) on Friday we should have a date for the Verizon release. wait for updates at http://www.samsung-omnia.org
